Hello! My name is Ashleigh and I am 28 years old! I have one daughter who is 8 years old and a wonderful fiance named Anthony. We both grew up in Illinois and until the past few years, that's where we resided. Early in 2012 Anthony got a job working for PetCo but that meant we needed to move, all the way to Arizona! He left in March while I stayed behind to work ( I had just landed an awesome job at the veterans home in my town as a CNA). By the time July rolled around we had bought a house and were ready to head out west! So Anthony flew back to Illinois and we began the moving process. 2 weeks later we were ready to go! Anthony, Maddy, me and our 11 year old pit bull (Chyna) piled into the moving truck and drove 1700 miles from Illinois to Arizona. It was an uncomfortable 3 days but we got there.
Fast forward to a year and 3 months later and Anthony had gotten a new job with General Electric as a Regional Credit Manager for their Sam's Club portfolio in the Midwest region, yay! But that meant, you guessed it, moving again! To Nebraska actually. This time moving was much easier since GE sent a moving crew to pack our whole house. And when I say pack I mean they came and emptied the cabinets and drawers, took all pictures off the walls, everything. We were told to pack only what we would need to take with us while we traveled. It was amazing and let me tell you, its the only way to move. Granted it cost around $8000 for them to move us like that so I don't think we'd ever do it on our own lol! We obtained 2 more dogs while in Arizona, a small Catahoula mix named Delilah and a Mastiff/Pit mix named Capone but instead of packing into a moving truck we just packed up our pick up and headed out! It only took us 2 days to get from Arizona to Nebraska! It was a long 2 days though. Let me tell you, if you ever get the chance to drive through Colorado (specifically west of the Rockies) in fall, do it! Its the most beautiful landscape ever!
So, we've been in Nebraska for just about 3 months now and I really like it here. We downsized the house and it has taken a bit of getting used to but its starting to feel more like home now. We live in a very nice part of town and Maddy has friends that live on our street so there are always kids to play with. The best part is that we are only about 7 hours away from our families in Illinois which sure beats the pants off being 3 days away when we lived in Arizona! I do miss the heat though...especially now that there is snow on the ground here.
I hope you enjoy the ramblings that make up this blog I've created. I certainly like going back and reading them! (Mostly because my memory is horrible)
Thanks for reading!
Ashleigh
